Queens Park

About Queens Park

Great parks, plenty of shopping and an abundance of schools makes Queens Park an ideal suburb for young families.

Real estate in this suburb is highly sought-after due to its proximity to Bondi Beach, the Sydney CBD and surrounds that include extensive parklands. For this reason property prices in Queens Park have risen dramatically during the past decade. Only officially recognised as a suburb in 1992, it was previously part of Bondi Junction and is close to the large commercial hub that includes the Westfield with its many levels of departments stores and shops.

Queens park itself was originally part of the Sydney common and later the Lachlan Swamps Water Reserve. The large park features many playing fields and is surrounded by houses on three sides. The park was dedicated in 1888 at the same time as Centennial Park and Moore Park. Together these parklands are important as they retain rare evidence of the geo diversity, biodiversity and ecosystems of the Eastern suburbs. The parklands provide rare inner city habitat for a wide variety of diverse indigenous flora and fauna, including rare and threatened species.

Surrounding Queens park is all types of shopping and café precincts, public schools and private schools are also in abundance and for exercise options the extensive parklands offer many cycling and jogging paths. These facilities make Queens Park ideal for young families and it also is more subdued than areas like Bondi and Randwick.
